Floral Flourish

During the first meeting of the new year, it was truly wonderful to see everyone again, reconnecting with familiar faces. This particular meeting was especially informative, as we delved into the intricacies of caring for two beautiful and popular flowering plants: agapanthus and nerines. The presentation was led by the knowledgeable Colin Hickman, a respected expert from Hoyland Plant Centre, who captivated us with his insights and expertise. He shared valuable tips on how to cultivate these stunning plants, discussing their specific needs regarding soil, sunlight, and watering. Colin emphasized the importance of proper drainage for agapanthus, as well as the ideal conditions for promoting vibrant blooms and healthy growth. He also highlighted the unique characteristics of nerines, including their striking flowers that can brighten up any garden. To enhance our learning experience, Colin brought along a selection of these plants for us to purchase. This was a fantastic opportunity for members to take home some of the very specimens we had just learned about, allowing us to apply Colin's advice in our own gardens. Overall, the meeting was a perfect blend of education and community spirit, setting a positive tone for the year ahead as we continue to share knowledge and cultivate our gardening skills together.
